Male Birthday Cards
It’s been a while since I’ve posted some cards!
This is the time of the year where it seems most of the men in my family were born so I’ve got a couple of their cards to show you today.
First up is a card I made for my grandad and for this I decided to delve into my older crafting stash. I’ve built up quite a pile of Forever Friends and Me to You cardmaking goodies over the years and never really use them anymore as my cardmaking style has changed. Forever Friends have some great ranges perfect for family birthdays though and I picked out some to put together a simple card.
I’d love to be able to tell you the set(s) that these are from but sadly I’m not very good at keeping the packaging! The bear is a decoupage and I tried to match the blue backing paper to the cushion design as I love a bit of matchy matchy sometimes. The ‘grandad’ was cut out using my Silhouette and the enamel dots are My Mind’s Eye (I can’t seem to make a card without something MME). The stamp I found in my stash and used StazOn ink. The only part of this card I would do differently is having a border around the card, in a brown or similar colour to the dots.
My little brother was 18 this month and I did a little stereotyping with this card (beer) but with a personalised touch… the colours of our football team (Leeds United).
The beer shape I got out of the Silhouette store some time ago and everything here was cut out using the Silhouette using Papermania Cardstock. The card was simply finished off with a shimmery silver dot over the ‘I’ because I couldn’t find the actual dot cut out on my desk. I like this card. The ‘happy birthday’ isn’t very bold but that’s deliberate due to the other colours on the card being quite bright. I didn’t want the card feeling like there was too much going on.
I feel like I’ve been neglecting cardmaking for far too long.. hopefully I can make a few more cards this year.
