I finally found a NYX stand in a Boots!
Strangely, my local one (despite being huge) hasn’t got one yet but while I was away for the weekend last week I popped into Boots for something else and straight into a stand! It was pretty destroyed so I couldn’t pick up everything I wanted but I got a few bits and pieces to try.
I haven’t had chance to give them all a good test just yet but wanted to show what I’d got and give my first impressions.I’m all about lip products at the moment so I picked up the lipstick butter and soft matte lip cream, along with the Doll Eye waterproof mascara as I’m always on the lookout for a good mascara. The first thing I noticed about the lipstick is the packaging is a little rattly when twisting which makes it feel a little cheap. This was only £5.50 though so I can’t really expect amazing packaging. I didn’t have the same concerns with the lip cream though, which was also £5.50.
I went for pinky colours in both of these although they look a little brighter on my lips than I did when I swatched on my hand in the store. This is the downfall sometimes of bad lighting in shops!I’ve only tried them once so far and when they apply nicely it seems the lip cream stays wet for far too long before drying and both seem to wear off in a way I haven’t come across with lip products before. They basically wear off everywhere apart from the lip edge making me look like I’m wearing lip liner and nothing else.
The mascara I haven’t tried yet – it’s coming away with me on holiday this month. The brush seems a good shape:So hopefully I’ll get along with it and it’ll actually be waterproof (my biggest issue with mascara is panda eye effect). This was £7 which is about the price of the Seventeen mascara of the same name, so hopefully I’ll like it just as much.
I’ll report back soon with a more detailed review but so far just okay. I’m not blown away by the lip products I’ve tried so far but I’ve not been put off the brand just yet. If you’ve got any great recommendations let me know in the comments below!
