Thank You Cards

As I had four days off over Christmas I had the time to catch up on some card making.

I decided to make some thank you cards for our families that had spoilt us this year – making duplicates of all of them so I had at least one of each to go in the shop.

I really need to get better at making at least two of every card I make again – one to give and one for the shop (a New Years Resolution perhaps?) It’s much easier to make two of the same card than try and recreate a card some weeks later.

After browsing Pinterest for some inspiration I got to work on my first card – opting for a feather card as I loved the feathers I used the other week.

A very simple card but I’m loving it. The sentiment I printed out on my laser printer and just cut out – I just did a whole page of these in different fonts and sizes to use on whatever design card I ended up with. I did three of these in total – two for the shop and one to send.

For the next card I looked through my scraps/excess cuts and shapes box where I found some gold butterflies left over from some cards I made back in September. I was also able to use some 12×12 paper I randomly picked up in Hobbycraft ages ago and had no use for until now.

I also had a few different sizes of butterfly so made each card to correspond to the butterfly size.

I think I prefer the smaller sized one – this is the one that made it’s way into the shop.

For the next couple I decided to recreate designs I’d already done before, like the male birthday card I made recently.

Handy that ‘thank you’ fits into the nine squares leaving me one square to use one of the cute wood shapes from The Ink Road haul. I then just finished off the card with some MME wood dots. This is the one that ended up in the shop.

No idea why this picture is so out of focus but this is the one I sent – using MME alphas and a gold sticker from one of the Oh Deer Me kits I bought on Black Friday. I think I’m going to have to buy more of the beige dotty paper I used on these cards as it’s just so perfect for cards where I need a neutral background.

I had lots of pink butterflies left over from the birthday card I made my mum so slightly adapted the design for these thank you cards.

These both got sent out in the end and sadly I’ve run out of the background paper I used so I can’t recreate it again.

I just needed one more card and decided to whip together a quick cute card using washi bunting.

This is all MME tape and I find it much easier to make bunting with it than ordinary washi because of the backing to the tape. I only made one of these because although I like the finish, I find it very fiddly to make.

I love it when I have evenings of crafty inspiration and just keep creating until late into the night. I’m hoping 2015 is filled with more evenings like this!

Have you made thank you cards this year?

P.S. If you wish to purchase any of these, you can check them out in the shop!
