Cardmaking

Butterfly birthday cards

If I have a go-to when it comes to birthday cards, butterflies are definitely it.

They just lend themselves so easily to most styles of card and lets face it, who doesn’t like butterflies?

I wanted to make some cards similar to those anniversary cards I made a few weeks ago but reduce the amount of hearts and throw in a few butterflies instead.

The textured card is some I picked up from Hobbycraft. I really need to find a pack of this kind of card as buying it by the sheet as I currently do is kind of expensive. The patterned backing paper is from the Hey Girl! range by Basic Grey, as are the alpha stickers spelling out ‘birthday’. I’m sure there’ll come a day that I don’t use enamel dots in a card… but they’re just too perfect to finish my cards off sometimes!

It’s my grandma’s 80th this month so I adapted the design for her. I would have used the Hey Girl! alphas again but they’re just too small so instead I used these alphas from Papermania. I’m aware they don’t necessarily match the pink from the paper (which is again Hey Girl!) but I still think it looks cute.

The top card is in my shop now – it feels like it’s been ages since I listed a card!

It’s really pretty Em – I wish I could make cards but mine always come out like a five-year-olds masterpiece!
