The Weekend Review: Bare Minerals Correcting Concealer

It was finally time to let go of my Benefit concealer last month.

I’d gotten every last drop out of it and had been avoiding replacing it. It’s not like I even loved it that much and wanted to repurchase but I thought it was a bit of the better the devil you know? While my dark circle coverage procedure wasn’t perfect, it was okay and most other concealers I’ve tried to introduce to the routine have been a massive disappointment.

While out shopping for birthday presents I stumbled upon the Bare Minerals counter in Debenhams and ended up getting their creamy concealer put on my horrible dark circles. On it’s own the effect wasn’t amazing, but once she popped a bit of liquid concealer over the top (which I do any way) I really liked the effect and coverage and so made a quick purchase. IMG_8183As usual with Bare Minerals it comes in nice, solid packaging, and the mirror in the lid is a nice touch. As I only use this on my under eye I’ve been using my concealer brush straight in the pot. The only issue with that so far is that the brush is probably a little too big for that and I end up putting concealer around a larger area than I need. I’ll be digging out my old, smaller Real Techniques concealer brush instead for future use. IMG_8185Once on the skin, this blends very nicely. It’s probably one of the better cream concealers I’ve used – it strikes the right balance when it comes to consistency so it doesn’t feel too cakey, nor does it take ages to work in because it’s too runny.

The colour is light 2 and is pretty good for my pale skin – although I’d prefer something just a little cooler. IMG_8187Some days, this and my Urban Decay concealer are all I need to cover my dark circles. Other days I need a little bit of help from the No7 Instant Radiance concealer, just to brighten the eyes (which I used every day alongside the Benefit concealer).

I would say this is a worthy replacement for my old Benefit – the same (if not a little better) level of coverage and a bit less caking throughout the day. At around £16 it’s not the cheapest but given how little product I’m using each day this is going to last a really long time.
