Pretty Mother’s Day Cards

It’s been so long since I made some cards!

I received a commission recently to make some birthday cards and it got me back into it big time. I therefore took the opportunity to make a couple of Mother’s Day Cards.

As I like to when making cards I took a look through my old cards to get some inspiration. When doing that I came across this old card that I made. I liked the idea of the feathers and so used that as the basis of the Mother’s Day card. As usual, I planned out the card in Silhouette to get the design sized correctly. Finding the right font for the ‘mum’ was probably the trickiest part!Once I’d designed it, I started picking out the colour scheme. When doing this, I look through my paper pads and see what strikes me. I knew I wanted something feminine with lots of pastels and settled on two papers from My Mind’s Eye. Something flowery and a lovely ombre paper. Then I selected cardstock in colours that complemented the papers. I selected light grey for the ‘mum’ letters.

The flowery card was put together first. I like how you get a border of the flower paper so it’s not too much. I absolutely love the pastels of the feathers and how the ‘mum’ is quite subtle.

I then put together the ombre one. This would be perfect for someone who doesn’t usually like anything flowery.

To ensure this card didn’t look too flat, I used sticky dots to attach everything except for the ‘mum’ letters. I used foam dots on these to add a bit of height. 

I love how these cards turned out! I’ve kept one of these for my own mum, and have listed the other in the shop. What do you think?
